FoodHub in contention for international design award
PORTLAND, Ore. – January 27, 2012 – Online wholesale food market FoodHub has been named a finalist for the Google-sponsored Interaction Award, a prestigious international design award for outstanding digital works that embody and improve meaningful relationships between people and the products and services they use. FoodHub, in the company of other big-name innovators like Nike and Nokia, is a finalist for the “Connecting” category, one of six categories in which 35 awardees will be named.

The Interaction Awards’ People’s Choice voting is now open in an online gallery at http://awards.ixda.org/vote. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the Interaction Awards Celebration on Friday, February 3rd, at Interaction12 in Dublin.
As a project of the nonprofit Ecotrust, FoodHub’s mission is to help build regional food economies. FoodHub now has 3,100 members from California to Alaska and has been compared to Facebook, match.com and Craigslist for its ability to help wholesale food buyers find local product and connect with local producers. The site was named one of the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Food by FastCompany in 2011.
